Terms & Conditions of Trade
These terms govern quotes, orders and the supply of light gauge steel framing, kitsets and related services by SmartFraming Ltd. Please read them carefully — placing an order or paying a deposit means you accept them.
Agreement & definitions
By requesting a quote, placing an order, paying a deposit or using this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions of Trade and to our Privacy Policy. They set out the basis on which SmartFraming Ltd deals with you.
In these terms:
- “We”, “our” or “us” means SmartFraming Ltd.
- “You” or “your” means the customer, website user or visitor.
- “Goods” means the steel framing, kitsets, components and any other products we supply.
- “Services” means drafting, design, manufacturing, delivery and related work we carry out.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force is the one published on this website at the time you place your order.
Pricing & estimates
- Quotes remain valid for 7 days from the date of issue unless we state otherwise in writing.
- Because final steel quantities are only confirmed at the drafting stage, the price may be adjusted by up to 10% to reflect the actual steel required.
- Substantial changes you request to a plan after quoting will incur additional charges reflecting the increase in materials and labour.
- Unless stated otherwise, prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST where applicable.
A price movement beyond 10% (for example, a significant change in steel commodity pricing or a major redesign) will always be confirmed with you in writing before we proceed. You are free to accept the revised price or cancel in line with the refund terms below.
Why we don't publish a public price list
Every project is quoted individually. We don’t publish a fixed price list because:
- Customisation. Most kits require individual modifications that affect cost.
- Commodity fluctuations. Steel prices move weekly, so a published figure would quickly become inaccurate.
- Freight variability. Delivery cost differs significantly by location — often by $600 or more between sites.
Obtaining an accurate quote
To give you an accurate quote we need your delivery location and design details. Submit our online enquiry or kitset quote form and attach sketches or plans where possible. Formal quotes are confirmed by email so there is a clear, written record for both of us.
Deposits, payments & refunds
- A non-refundable deposit of $1,150 (incl. GST) is required to secure drafting or manufacturing.
- If work has not yet commenced, a refund may be issued less any labour or drafting costs already incurred.
- Full payment is required before production or shipment of your order.
Goods remain the property of SmartFraming Ltd until payment has been received in full.
Freight & delivery
Flat-pack deliveries
Flat-pack shipments are sent to the carrier’s depot unless your site can accommodate large trucks and has suitable unloading equipment. Any extra charge for delivery to site is the customer’s responsibility.
Tracking
Once goods have left our facility, customers track progress directly with the freight provider.
SmartFraming delivery
Where we deliver, we verify site access beforehand. However, if conditions on arrival are unsafe, delivery may be limited to the nearest accessible location. Customers must provide a hazard-free environment for unloading.
Please inspect goods on delivery and report any shortage or visible damage to us within a reasonable time so we can help resolve it with the carrier.
Designs for council submission
From your sketches, we produce workable plans compatible with our roll-forming machines. Our plans are prepared to comply with NASH (National Association of Steel-framed Housing) standards but are not guaranteed to be council-ready on their own.
Qualified engineers or architects must review our plans and integrate them with their own documentation before submission for consent. Additional fees apply for frame-kit reports supporting a PS1 (Producer Statement – Design) application.
Advice disclaimer
Any guidance we provide reflects general knowledge only and is not a substitute for professional advice. You must verify requirements with your local council or the relevant qualified professionals before relying on our information.
Errors & omissions
SmartFraming Ltd accepts no liability for any errors or omissions in drawings, specifications, quantities, documentation or pricing. All information must be verified by the purchaser, builder, designer and consultants before construction begins.
Where a pricing error occurs, we may correct it. You may then choose to accept the revised pricing or cancel the order without penalty (subject to the deposit terms above where drafting has already begun).
Third-party recommendations
We may refer you to third-party suppliers or trades in good faith. We are not responsible for the products, services, workmanship or conduct of any third party, and any arrangement you make with them is between you and them.
Warranties & liability
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply. Where you acquire goods or services for the purpose of a business, you agree that those Acts do not apply to the extent permitted by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability arising out of the supply of goods or services is limited to, at our option, replacing or repairing the goods, resupplying the services, or refunding amounts paid for them. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
